Character Introduction: Geoffrey

Because my tablet was out of commission this week, have a rough sketch of Geoffrey while I touch up an actual sprite of his:

The heir of a wealthy family that took up residence in Cokemill despite the town being the very physical embodiment of poverty. Having fought in one of England's recent wars, and gaining quite some acclaim for it, he's pretty popular among the townspeople. Unfortunately, with his left leg nearly useless after he was shot through the calf, Geoffrey's family prefers to keep him locked up and out of public sight. Because it's much better to praise him in absentia rather than keep him around as a reminder that the future head of the family is essentially lame. As a result, Geoffrey in person is neurotic, irrational, and if not suicidal, then at least very self-destructive. As demonstrated when Constance first meets him, where he's happily insulting his captors like it's going out of style, receiving a couple beatings in return.

Quite a foil to both Constance and Elliot, who are, if anything, sincere individuals. Geoffrey's not quite insane, but he's very close to it. His self-destructive tendencies is something of a berserk button for Constance especially, who had to fight tooth and nail for her own life. On the other hand, despite having never met him, Elliot has a surprisingly positive image of him. Probably his war hero status coming to play. Nothing like an aristocrat defying stereotypes and going to fight for his country. If anything, Geoffrey's essentially the damsel in distress of the story who does everything he can to hinder his own rescue attempts.
